UFT Recording Modes



To perform any type of recording modes, you need to open any existing automation test or create any new Test script. Hence, you can see on the UFT tool (see below) and can perform actions on the desired recording modes.





There are 4 recording modes available they are
  1. Default/Normal recording mode - records the objects and the operations performed as desired.
  2. Analog recording mode – records mouse movements and keywords actions performed as desired.
  3. Low-Level recording mode – records the object exact co-ordinates
  4.  Insight recording mode - records operations based on its appearance but not based on its native object properties


1)      Steps involved to Default/Normal recording mode
1.       Open Test script
2.       Click on Record (red) button
3.       Select Record Menu and then
4.       Start navigating on your opened application
5.       Finally, click on stop button to end the recording process

Expected: You should see the automation code generated automatically



2)      Steps involved to Analog recording mode
1.       Open Test script
2.       Click on Record (red) button
3.       Select Record Menu and then
4.       Select Analog recording mode
5.       Select Record relative to the screen or Record relative to the following window (as shown below) and click on Start Analog Record button
6.       Start navigating on your chosen application
7.       Finally, click on stop button to end the recording process

Expected: You should see the automation code generated automatically



3)      Steps involved to Low-Level recording mode
1.       Open Test script
2.       Click on Record (red) button
3.       Select Record Menu and then
4.       Select Low-Level recording mode then you will notice that automated generated code displayed on UFT tool as Desktop.RunAnalog “Track1”
5.       Start navigating on your opened application
6.       Finally, click on stop button to end the recording process

Expected: You should see the automation code generated automatically (starts with Desktop.RunAnalog “Track1”)

4)      Steps involved to Insight recording mode
1.       Open Test script
2.       Click on Record (red) button
3.       Select Record Menu and then
4.       Select Insight recording mode
5.       Start navigating on your opened application
6.       Finally, click on stop button to end the recording process

Expected: You should see the automation code generated automatically as shown below



NOTE: Here you will notice the icons or objects you selected that code you will see as the Insight objects and as and when you click on desired insight object it will take you to the Object Repository in order to change anything required.
